Drugs Are Bad, Mmkay?

My pal Liesl over at Pretty Helmet is trying despirately to kick the Zoloft monkey. She started taking it at a point in her life where she was experiencing personal trauma that led to monstrous depression and near-death. She has been riding that train ever since and has now reached a point in her life where she feels "happy and well-adjusted" and wants to get off. Mood-altering anti-depressants have been the bane of my own existence in one form or another, and I've never even taken any. If you are unhappy, you should find the source of that unhappiness and work towards fixing it. Popping a pill that tells you that you're happy is dangerous. It might not be immediately apparent, but it can have a long-term effect that can be dangerous or deadly. You can only damn up so much water before it starts to crack.

If you have words of encouragement, please go over and help her out. If you have a personal experience, share it. If you've gone through the same thing, tell her how you made it. If you're on the Z-train to Nutsburg, stop at the next station and ask for a cup of coffee and a hot bowl of soup.
